Look at This Floor

Well this happened!!! I had an ugly ceramic tile floor that I was completely over - all done. I love painted tiles, however I don't have the time or money to use those. So I stenciled....and look at it.

I just love it - let's go way back to when it was a very cute white bathroom.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this bathroom, I just wanted to add some pizzazz. So I started with the hardware - took it off and spray painted it gold. But it still wasn't right......

So I painted the vanity my favorite color - Tiffany Blue. I accessorized everything with gold and made these cute lil towel holders out of picture frames and hooks.

But it STILL wasn't quite what I wanted. So, after some fun Pinterest searches and some Youtube investigations I decided that I was capable of stenciling my floors. Here's how I did it.

I bought everything I needed to clean and stencil the floors. The plaster of paris was used to make my own chalk paint. I wasn't happy with the final result of the chalk paint. Sanding is required at the very end when you apply the polyurethane, and when I sanded the tiny little plaster of paris pieces that didn't get 100% incorporated into the paint came off and the floor has a few speckles in it. Next time I will pay for the more expensive chalk paint. Those paint brushes are very cheap ones, and they are what I used to apply the black paint in the stencil.

Then I applied 2 coats of white paint, and started stenciling. Because the paint needs to dry between stenciling you have to move around with the stencil. But the final product made it all worth while! I really love it despite the speckled floor.
